Recirculation of charge air is a must in a MAF based system, since the MAF cannot measure the amount of air loss if blown overboard; as when using a traditional Blow Off Valve. With the metered air being lost, but not measured, the ECU cannot correct the fueling without knowing the amount of air loss. This will result in poor gas mileage, rich-running conditions and decreased performance.
